Nights 8 and 12 hours -- every weekend night shift between 8PM-8AM
Summary:
Performs diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety. May provide clinical instruction to prospective Radiologic Technologist students and assist in evaluating student's ability to perform procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Greet patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification. 2. Reviews patient script and Cerner requisition to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed. 3. Acquires appropriate history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed. 4. Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test. 5. Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety & comfort of the patient. 6. Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards. 7. Produces and review high quality x-rays for interpretation by the Radiologist. 8. Interacts professionally with patient and family. 9. Attends annual hospital review & departmental in-services meetings. Practices medicine & surgical aseptic procedures. Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures. Works well with other modalities to provide complete patient care. 10. May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility. May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures & ensures student attains objectives of each competency. 11. Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems and in accordance with department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner. 12. Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s). 13. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
Other Information:
Required: BLS, CT State RT License or New Graduates under CT Temporary Practice Provisions, Valid ARRT, Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license. Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Experience with patient care in a radiology setting. Minimum Experience: zero to six months Credentials: * American Registry of Radiologic Technologists * Radiographer *New Graduates under CT Temporary Practice Provisions Education: Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
