Job Description:

Johnstone Cafferty Group is seeking a full-time UX & IT Support Specialist to join our IT Team.  The position is based in our headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, with occasional travel to our branches in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Colorado.  You will be expected to work from the office most of the time but occasional working from home may be possible.

This position will maintain and develop a variety of tools that support core enterprise activities, including HR records, eCommerce platform, asset tracking, and data analysis.

You will be part of a friendly IT team, working with our CIO, IT Director, User Administrator/Cyber Security Specialist, and Network Engineer, and you will interact frequently with our HR, Logistics and Sales & Marketing teams to ensure their needs are met.

You will inherit a mature set of existing apps and interfaces, developed in Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI), and a well-understood set of eCommerce tools (website, customer outreach platforms, customer-collection lockers etc.). 

We can teach you the technical aspects of these tools.  The primary attributes we need in this position are good communication and critical thinking skills, and ability to learn quickly on the job.  You need to know how to ask the right questions, to get the answers you need and to ensure that various stakeholders' requirements are understood and met.

Like all members of the IT team, you will provide direct user support (IT Helpdesk), to ensure our colleagues have the tools to do their job effectively.

$25-30/hr + bonus program and benefits

Duties

This position reports to the Chief Information Officer, and works closely with the eCommerce Director, to develop and deliver the processes and systems necessary to support our continued growth. You also work alongside the rest of the IT team to deal with helpdesk tickets as needed.

Specifically you will:

  • Support data management applications for HR and Asset Tracking, maintaining and extending these tools as needed to support operational processes, using SharePoint, Microsoft Power Platform and other tools.
  • Support data analytics, maintaining and extending our data analytics capabilities using Power BI, SQL and other tools.
  • Provide eCommerce platform support, assisting with technical needs and troubleshooting.
  • Provide data analysis and reporting on eCommerce platform, to support informed business decisions.
  • Provide web design assistance, developing internal and external content to support a cohesive customer and employee experience.
  • Provide training and support for end-users of the software tools you maintain and develop.
  • Provide first-line IT support for issues within your area of expertise, including helping manage day-to-day issues related to the eCommerce system and data apps that you manage.
  • Occasionally travel to Johnstone Cafferty Group branches will be required, including some overnight travel – ideally 2-3 days every 2 months, or as needed for emergency response.

 

Key deliverables

The postholder must have the necessary skills, have a plan to develop these skills through on-the-job-training, or develop systems that allow these functions to be fulfilled.  Any existing technology used by Johnstone Cafferty Group must be maintained until/unless a replacement is agreed.

  • Ensure availability of HR and Asset Tracking systems with responsive approach to feature requests (working with CIO, HR and Facilities teams to ensure feature requests are triaged and followed through appropriately)
  • Ensure availability of data analytics, including enforcing appropriate access controls for analytics results, data-apps and underlying reports, and ensuring that analysis results are built on robust, reliable analytic principles.
  • Document key systems and processes, to a standard that could be understood by a non-specialist IT professional, maintained in a central location accessible to other members of the IT team
