Job Summary

The Group Craft Construction Manager (CM) will oversee and lead our construction craft force on projects for the assigned group across the United States. This position will require a deep understanding of the construction processes, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in effectively managing craft personnel. This position will require field experience along with experience managing small and large crews (100+). The Group Craft CM will be responsible for managing the needs of the craft work force, communicating, and coordinating craft resource needs with Group leadership and projects, visiting the worksites to meet the craft and meet the project teams to understand scope of work, resource requirements to ensure the successful execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Craft Recruiting & Retention - Assist the craft recruiters working within Sundt's talent acquisition department in the craft recruiting process and develop tactics and strategies to enhance craft recruitment. Increase craft workforce retention through active management of craft workforce engagement, training & development.
2. Craft Training & Performance - Assist the craft workforce development team in understanding training gaps and needs throughout our Industrial craft workforce, assist in developing training modules, and assist in enabling both on-site and off-site training sessions to best support our craft and our projects. Identify potential leadership within the craft workforce ranks and provide opportunities for development.
3. Enhance Sundt's \"Core Craft\" program and improve participation within the program.
4. Establish requirements for craft tool kits/personal tools required on specific projects and ensure these requirements are communicated with the craft, as well as talent acquisition.
5. Increase enrollment in Industrial Apprenticeship Program and the number of NCCER certified craft workers throughout our workforce.
6. Project Planning and Execution - Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to understand project scope and resource requirements and timelines. Develop construction resource plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
7. Quality Assurance - Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that work performed by the craft force meets industry standards and specifications. Assist Talent Development and Group Quality Departments in maintaining craft certification records for required qualifications (such as welder qualifications, continuity logs, etc.)
8. Resource Management - Efficiently allocate craft personnel to tasks based on skills, experience, and project requirements. Ensure proper utilization of resources to optimize productivity and meet project deadlines and maintain a group-wide craft resource curves tracking current utilization, fore-casted needs, reductions in force, enhancing craft resource sharing between active and future projects.
9. Safety Compliance - Lead safety by example helping the workforce do the same in all of their operations. Promote and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all craft workers. Assist in identifying any gaps in project safety training/programs as experienced at the craft workforce level and ensure all craft understand the safety policies, procedures and expectations of the company.
10. Team Leadership - Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of construction craft workers to ensure high performance and job satisfaction. Provide guidance and support to craft personnel, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. 10-15 years of experience in a leadership role within the construction industry.
2. Ability to develop regional craft compensation and per diem/travel package recommendations based on current market data within the regions where projects are located.
3. Familiarity with facilitating/managing craft involvement in apprenticeship programs as well as NCCER training curriculum.
4. In-depth knowledge of construction trades, processes, materials, and techniques.
5. Proven experience in leading small and large groups of craft in projects in excess of $200M in size.
6. Technology skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, P6, InEight and LaborChart.
7. Thorough knowledge and understanding of key industrial construction trades including rigging, structural steel erection and structural welding, boilermaker work, process piping work including fitting, welding, bonding, fusing, etc., mechanical equipment setting/millwright work, EI&C, etc.
8. Travel for this role will require ~2 weeks/month or 50%.

1. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
2. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
3. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
4. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
6. Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
7. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
8. Will interact with people frequently during a shift/work day.
9. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs on an occasional basis.
10. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
11. Will work various shifts, including swing, night and weekend.
