We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist to help us define and craft Blizzard's next great game. As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for delivering tools and pipeline improvements to support the Art and content teams. You understand how to effectively improve pipelines by providing tools, processes, validation, code reviews, scripting and API support. You are a champion of sustainable processes, trust, and collaboration with other teams and are comfortable operating in a startup environment, navigating through ambiguity with purpose.

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

What You Bring to the Table

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:


  • Develop tools and underlying systems for the content creation process.

  • Focus on designing systems with shared functionality and unified architecture.

  • Support features like content validation, import/export tooling, automate Tasks used in build pipelines, and develop workflow efficiencies.

  • Accountable for maintenance and stability of content creation pipelines.

  • Be an active communicator and collaborator with all stakeholders.

  • Discover and investigate technologies and techniques for keeping our pipeline modern, relevant, efficient and feature rich.

  • Write and maintain documentation for tools, procedures, and best practices.

  • Maintain and grow a culture of collaboration and trust.

Minimum Requirements

Experience


  • 5+ years of experience in AAA Tech Art for games.

  • Proven experience, having shipped a major game title in a relevant role.

  • Experience with writing tools/scripts/code libraries in Python or other scripting languages.

  • Experience working with version control on projects (e.g. Perforce).

  • Experience in modern game engines, and their workflows.

Knowledge & Skills


  • Knowledge of Python scripting and related UI frameworks.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

  • Creative problem-solving skills that lead to innovative solutions on challenging technical problems.

Extra Points


  • C++ Experience.

  • Experience in the AAA game space.

  • Strong Foundation in 3D math.

  • Experience with Machine Learning, and AI.

  • Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.

  • Experience in creating Houdini HDAs to run in Engine and DCC.

  • Experience with Software Release, Versioning, and Packaging.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
