Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate in Linguistics
Description: Through the Council of the Humanities, the Program in Linguistics at Princeton University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (or more senior) research position in linguistics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in theoretical phonology. Research areas of particular interest include tone and/or the interface of phonology with other parts of grammar (e.g. phonetics, morphology, syntax), but scholars with other research specializations are highly encouraged to apply as well. Applicants should discuss in their research statement the projects (or types of projects) that they would hope to undertake at Princeton. The position will be supervised by Prof. Nicholas Rolle, as well as another faculty member, depending on the candidate's research focus. The successful candidate may be invited to teach one course for Linguistics per semester, pending sufficient enrollments and with the approval of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, and may engage in a small amount of undergraduate independent work advising. When teaching or advising, the successful candidate will carry a secondary rank of Lecturer. In addition, they will be expected to participate in the intellectual life of the Program in Linguistics. A PhD in Linguistics or relevant discipline is required. The Term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments.
