The Senior Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in strategic financial planning for the College of Arts and Sciences, Lowe Art Museum, and the Institute for Advanced Study of the Americas (UMIA). This professional will possess exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities. The role requires presenting business information to senior administration in an easily understandable manner for non-financial professionals. A strong understanding of financial applications and reporting is essential, along with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and usefulness of business information. This position will also serve as a resource for other departments in financial and business planning, assisting with the interpretation of financial metrics and supporting implementation plans based on these metrics.
Specific Duties for College of Arts & Sciences, Lowe Art Museum, and UMIA
Oversee operational accounts, ensuring adequate monitoring and reconciliation; project revenue and expenditure budget variances; monitor, verify, and reconcile budgeted fund expenditures. Responsible for expenditure control.
·Provide detailed financial and/or narrative reports on budget variances, projected revenues and expenditures, and staff salaries.
Manage fiscal responsibilities for assigned cost centers, including contract review, expenditure requests, and account reconciliation.
Ensure adherence to and execution of the division's annual budget in line with University Budget Guidelines and Policies.
Collaborate with department units on financial management and reporting needs.
Consult with departments on budget, financial reports, reconciliations, irregular transactions, and problem resolutions.
Manage fiscal year closing of assigned accounts.
Serve as a resource for other departments, assisting faculty and staff with cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation.
Oversee space management, including effort distribution analysis, space utilization determination, and reporting on space use and allocations.
Assist in equipment inventory and certification.
Assist in Unrelated Business Income reporting.
Create and update standard operating procedures.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in daily activities.
Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring personnel are treated respectfully, ethically, and professionally.
Build positive and productive relationships with colleagues across campus.
Support the Sr. Business Officer and the Executive Director, Finance operationally and with other projects as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience:
Five years of relevant work experience; progressively responsible experience, preferably in a university setting, is preferred.
Relevant education, certifications, and/or work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Strong background in computer application systems and financial analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, establish priorities, set objectives, and achieve goals in a complex environment.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
High level of discretion and appreciation for organizational subtleties. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
