ABOUT PIANO CLEVELAND

A small but mighty arts non-profit, Piano Cleveland promotes the transformative power of the piano through internationally renowned competitions, innovative concerts and community-engaged programming. While we are best known for our signature event, the Cleveland International Piano Competition, our work supports pianists to achieve their full potential while inspiring the discovery and love of piano music for listeners of all ages and backgrounds.

JOB PROFILE

You will be crucial to the successful running of day-to-day operations at Piano Cleveland. In addition to heading up office related tasks, you will oversee the management of our donor database and ensure timely acknowledgements for gifts. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with board members, donors, and volunteers while collaborating on fundraising events and signature programming. And not least of all, you will be a valued member of our nimble and creative team as we create and present exciting events for our communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development Support - 50%

Work with Director of Philanthropy & Marketing to provide hands-on event support for annual fundraising gala and small donor events, including:
  • Invitation design and response gathering
  • Sponsorship tracking
  • Creation of collateral

Use Raiser's Edge CRM to:
  • Enter and process all gifts and provide timely acknowledgments
  • Create mailing lists for donor communications
  • Pull donor lists for print
  • Create reports for fundraising staff and lay leadership to support overall strategy

Organization Administration - 35%

Be primary liaison to Board of Directors for communication. These include monthly tasks, such as:
  • Drafting agendas and collecting reports
  • Preparing and sending out meeting documents
  • Organizing hospitality
  • Running virtual portion of each meeting
  • Updating internal files

And annual tasks, such as:
  • Updating board directory and orientation manual
  • Organizing hospitality for annual Board orientation
  • Collecting updated documentation from board members

Support in assembling materials for programming (printed materials, gifts, etc.)

Perform other administrative duties necessary for the office, such as managing relationships with technology partners (phone, internet, copier), ordering office supplies, or organizing hospitality for office-related events

Program Engagement - 15%

Assist Artist & Production Manager with volunteer engagement, including:
  • Co-organizing volunteer outreach
  • Serve as main volunteer contract during summer programming

Assist Education and Community Lead with Piano and Keyboard Donation program, including assessing donation forms and updating information in Raiser's Edge

Work with Piano Cleveland leadership and other staff members on specific project initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience

1-3 years of relevant work experience

Strong written communication, including editing and proofreading

Strong spoken communication, comfortable interacting in person and via phone with patrons and volunteers

Detail-oriented

Ability to handle multiple projects at once

Self-motivated with enthusiasm to learn and grow

Willing and excited to be a part of a collaborative and supportive team in a fast-paced creative environment

Proficiency in Microsoft and Google suites, with aptitudeto learn new systems

Preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of classical music and/or piano music
  • Experience in in a non-profit setting
  • Proficiency in donor CRM, especially Raiser's Edge

Salary, Benefits, and Schedule

$37,000 - $42,000 per year, with paid vacation, paid sick time, health insurance benefits, and retirement account with employer match.

Office hours are 10am - 4pm; additional hours needed for special events on evenings/weekends (scheduled in advance, dependent on programming). Flex time may be used for required events that occur after work hours.

Piano Cleveland is a flexible work environment. Work-from-home days are approved as requested as long as there are no required in-person events.

Piano Cleveland's main programming season takes place in the summer, so the organization's busiest times are from March - August.
