Job Description:
General Manager / Director specializing in aerospace and defense, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing Business Development and Program management associated with commercial and government contracts. You are empowered to expand our rugged/embedded computer, network, electronic and test system products into both DoD and heavy industrial market spaces. You are on the front edge of new product concepts with an agile engineering, integration and sales support team to respond quickly to customer needs. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring business success from opportunity development through capture, proposals, baseline planning, execution, change management, risk management and delivery of contract deliverables while adhering to compliance and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and customers to ensure the successful execution of projects within scope, on time, and within budget. Beyond tactical execution you will have the chance to drive strategy for growth. Business success will be measured through customer satisfaction and meeting or exceeding financial goals (Awards, Revenue, Profit/EBITDA, Cash Flow, and Investment) being achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Management:
Manage contracts both commercial and FAR and non-FAR based government efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Develop and maintain program plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
Monitor program performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Build strong relationships with customers and internal team
Business Development:
Work closely with ATG strategy team to develop and execute a strategic plan to drive growth.
Leverage existing industry contacts to expand current market and/or into new market adjacencies.
Build new potential customer relationships to expand addressable market opportunities.
Support conferences, consortiums, and trade shows as required.
Build a strong pipeline of opportunities using the Salesforce CRM tool.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all programs comply with FAR regulations and other relevant federal guidelines when required.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FAR and related regulatory changes, advising teams on compliance requirements.
Prepare and review documentation to support compliance and audit activities.
Understand ITAR and EAR compliance
Comply with all security requirements for successful protection of company IP.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders.
Facilitate regular communication and program reporting to stakeholders on program status, risks, and issues.
Foster strong relationships with customers and stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and support.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor program and technical teams, promoting a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Provide direction and support to team members to achieve program objectives.
Support performance evaluations and professional development of team members.
Financial Management:
Oversee business budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial targets are met working closely with finance function.
Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making and resource allocation.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Ensure accurate forecast Estimate at Complete (EAC) for programs throughout execution to meet cost and schedule commitments.
Contract Management:
Manage contract negotiations, modifications, and compliance.
Ensure all contractual obligations are met and documented.
Work with the contracts/legal function and sub-contracts teams to resolve contract-related issues.
Risk Management:
Identify, assess, value, and manage business risks, developing contingency plans as needed.
Monitor risk mitigation activities and adjust plans as necessary.
Report on risk status and mitigation efforts to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
At least 15 years of experience in aerospace and defense, with Program Management experience executing programs and Business Development experience developing and winning opportunities. Experience successfully executing FFP contracts preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a STEM related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
Vast defense/aerospace embedded systems, network or other electronic business development experience. Will also consider a strong defense/aerospace program manager with client facing experience.
Deep understanding of rugged electronic systems preferred.
Leadership experience with extensive DoD/govt/aerospace relationships and pedigree.
Strong negotiating skills with knowledge of DoD procurement processes
Understanding of change management, risk management, and FAR based contract execution.
Strong knowledge of Sales Force preferred
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Must be U.S. citizen
Working Conditions:
o On-site role in Scottsdale, AZ
o This position may require 20% travel
o Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and programs.
o Security clearance may be required depending on program requirements.
