Swope Design Solutions is a rapidly growing mechanical engineering and product design firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area that specializes in consumer products, medical devices, and robotics. We are looking for an exceptional Engineering Technician. We are open to applicants that do not have an engineering degree as long as they have 3-5 years of experience in a relevant occupation that involves building and creating things. Additionally, this position could be a good fit for a hands-on ME college graduate looking for a position that offers excellent growth opportunities.
POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
Maintain shop equipment
Organize tools and supplies
Replenish inventory
Sort through old client materials, document, and then contact client to return project materials
Sort through mold rack and discard old molds
Deburring and cleaning of machined parts
Post-processing and cleaning 3D printed parts
Packing and shipping fabricated parts to clients
Attend daily morning meetings and learn about day to day procedures at a mechanical engineering firm
Silicone and injection molding
Part inspection and documentation
Help run production on CNC mill
Tracking of progress on shop production jobs
Develop documentation for part machining, post-processing, inspection, and assembly
Shop planning
Prototype assembly
Material stock (pre-machining) prep
Deep clean areas such as lab benches, shelves, cabinets, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
Either
High School Diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree with a demonstrated hands-on proficiency
High aptitude for the machine shop
An interest in engineering, machining, and building things
Fantastic work ethic and an excellent attitude
Ability to do light assembly work with excellent attention to detail
Ability to precisely follow written or verbal instructions
The position requires someone who is hands-on and has experience building things
Likes to clean things, organize, and be proactive when workload is light
Deep care and respect for tools and equipment
Must take pride in a job well done and a clean work environment
Ability to lift up to 45 lbs occasionally
Trustworthiness and strict adherence to the non-disclosure of work activity involving client projects
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Professional communication skills and ability to interface with team members from various engineering disciplines
Self-direction towards excellent work outcomes while being unafraid to ask questions
Proficiency using basic computer software especially Google Suite and email, web browsing, and MS office

Experience working in a machine shop, model shop, car shop, bike shop, motorcycle shop, or carpentry shop
Manufacturing experience
Experience with 3D printing, including SLS, SLA, FDM
CNC Mill operator experience
CNC Mill programming experience
Beginner Level Proficiency in CAD software

Hours are ~ 9:30am - 6:00 pm Monday -- Friday
