We are recruiting for a Product Manager for our Vacuum Automation Engineering team. This position is an integral part of our rapidly growing Engineering team, and the successful candidate will support Applications Engineers, Designers, Inside and Outside sales personnel, end customers, etc. while becoming familiar with B2B transactions, including market and internal data analysis, voice of customer, and supporting the quoting process of standard and custom components/solutions to customers.
Responsibilities
Learn about Schmalz Vacuum Automation & Handling Systems product ranges, general robotics, and automation processes in manufacturing environments
Become familiar with B2B transactions, including market and internal data analysis, voice of customer, etc.
Create and maintain product-related documents (e.g. product information, sales arguments, sales texts, design tools, bill of materials, list of design parameters, and/performance guarantees) to the specified extent
Support specialist departments (e.g. sales, marketing) in the creation of product communication (e.g. brochures, catalogs, advertisements, etc.) by providing product relevant texts, images, proofreading, etc.
Quote/support the quoting process of standard and custom components/solutions to customers
Develop and conduct product trainings for internal teams and external stakeholders in the US market
Participate in the creation and monitoring of prices and datasets (e.g. new product launches, annual pricing activity, customer net pricing lists, ecommerce platform data)
Carry out product data maintenance within our ERP and PLM system
Support application engineers, designers, inside and outside sales personnel, end customers, distributors, independent sales reps with product questions
Carry out market observations, obtain information on customer requirements from the specialist department (e.g. sales, subsidiaries), prepare data, have it approved, and archive it
Observe and compare competitors (e.g. dimensions, product price comparison, layout, number of employees, turnover, etc.), prepare, release, and archive data
Support the quality claims process by assessing root causes regarding your assigned products
Travel to customer sites and trade shows for both market insights and product support
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications • Associates Degree in Engineering, or related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred • 1-3 years of product management, technical support, and/or sales with automation products preferred • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing environments, familiarity with material handling solutions is a plus • Mechanically inclined, with basic understanding of mechanical and electrical concepts preferred • Data analysis experience; analytical mindset • Ability & desire to work with customers, translating needs into products and solutions • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions (engineering, sales, marketing, manufacturing, finance, etc.)
Superior communication skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently • Organizational and prioritization skills, proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, sales contact management software, and adaptability to learn new computer systems and software • Experience with SolidWorks / alternative CAD software is preferred • Strong time management skills with an emphasis on professionalism, flexibility, and a sales / service mindset
