Northwind Group is a privately held real estate investment firm focusing on equity and debt investments in residential, commercial, senior-living and healthcare properties. The company was founded in 2008 and has transacted on over $5 billion of real estate assets. Northwind manages 5 closed-end debt funds in the following two main strategies- providing bridge financing secured by real estate properties in the greater New York City area and other major US gateway cities and providing bridge to HUD loans secured by income producing porfolios of senior housing and skilled nursing assets in select states across the US.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an In-House Counsel. The In-House Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice predominantly on real estate loan transactions, debt fund related matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, managing corporate governance and compliance matters, managing litigation and disputes, and providing general legal support to the team.
Qualifications
Strong background in real estate law, with at least 10 years of experience
Proven track record of successful negotiation of complex contracts
Experience handling real estate finance and debt fund structures.
Demonstrated ability to manage litigation and disputes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Licensure to practice law in the State of New York
Experience in private equity, real estate investment firms or healthcare is a plus
Ability to work collaboratively with other teams within the organization
Ability to perform under pressure while multitasking several assignments simultaneously.
