Job Description
Sandhill Investment Management is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our growing investment research team in Buffalo, NY. As an Assistant Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the investment decision-making process by identifying and researching important market trends and themes, covering existing portfolio holdings, conducting macroeconomic research, and ensuring the smooth operation of various processes and systems. Our investment process is highly collaborative, so the ability to work independently as well as part of a team is essential. The selected candidate will work across the firm's equity and fixed income strategies.
Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify key trends and themes in the financial markets, including equities, fixed income, and alternative investments.
Monitor and analyze the performance and potential risks of existing portfolio holdings, providing regular reports and recommendations.
Stay up to date with relevant economic indicators, market events, and regulatory changes to inform investment strategies and decision-making.
Collaborate with the investment team to generate investment ideas and contribute to the development of investment strategies.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of financial models, investment databases, and other analytical tools.
Conduct due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including analyzing financial statements, evaluating industry dynamics, and assessing risk factors.
Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains, and proactively implement changes to enhance operational effectiveness.
Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, compliance, and client services, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of investment strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field, or expected by summer 2025. A CFA designation or progress towards obtaining one is preferred.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze large sets of data.
Solid understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and portfolio management concepts.
Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, using tools such as Excel, FactSet, or other relevant software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Detail-oriented mindset with a high level of accuracy and precision in work output.
