Turner Laser Systems is looking for a Laser Applications Engineer to join the team as a full-time position at our headquarters in Fremont, CA. We are looking for a highly talented laser processing expert who can take on some of the world's most challenging laser process development projects in a small-business environment. We utilize cutting-edge lasers, optical systems, vision, sensors, motion and software to bring laser applications from the lab to state-of-the-art automation tools for our Fortune 500 and startup company customers. Responsibilities
Design and execute on laser process development experiments for customer applications and present the results to management and customers.
Laser setup, alignment and characterization as well as documentation therein.
Support team effort to improve laser equipment in laser laboratory.
Maintain cleanliness, organization and efficiency of laser laboratory.
Provide knowledge transfer to the machine design team based on lab experiments.
Support the design, build, setup, and verification testing of laser systems during customer laser tool development.
Support sales and marketing teams with technical expertise.
Participate in internal training and improving on technical and management skills.
Support of customer tools, including both remote and onsite service and support.
Qualifications
PhD or Masters in laser materials processing OR Bachelor degree in science/engineering with additional 3+ years industry experience in laser materials process
Ability to create and manage experiments, following good scientific procedures
Very strong fundamental understanding of laser-materials interactions and laser processing foundations
Must be very fluent in setting up and aligning lasers
Problem solving mindset with the ability to break down large projects into a series of tests and experiments
Ability to troubleshoot issues with hardware and software integration
Very strong ability to present technical data into simple, clear and presentable formats for both internal reports and customer reports/presentations
Passion to learn new technology and applications
Personal drive to work in an extremely creative, fast paced and start-up environment
Proactive and able to drive small technical projects.
