The Role
The Design Strategist supports clients in the preparation of effective and transparent corporate communications. The Design Strategist will leverage expertise in shareholder communications, ESG, and broader communication strategies to advise clients and help shape their document communication strategies.
The Design Strategist plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between clients' project design goals and Labrador's Design Team, and ensuring that advisory and design efforts align with the project's overall goals and objectives. They are crucial in leading the design process by understanding client needs, guiding clients on document design and Labrador process, integrating subject matter expertise, overseeing design work, and collaborating with internal project teams. The Design Strategist will work on various stakeholder communications, with a focus on Sustainability Reports, Proxy Statements, Annual Reports, and Codes of Conduct.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement • Lead client meetings and serve as the spokesperson for design practice. You demonstrate expertise, judgment, and understanding of client requirements and guide your clients towards the right advisory and design outcomes. • Animate progressive disclosure strategies for our clients and serve as the primary client interface for advisory and design topics. • Apply your understanding of disclosure content and creative flair by collaborating with Analysts, Content Advisors and Designers to bring strategies to life, through the implementation of client-approved ideas. • Ensure that our advisory and design team is prepared for client presentations, and all advisory and design actions and deliverables are anticipated and completed. • Forge strong relationships at senior levels within client organizations.
Client Satisfaction • Identify any service issues and implement swift resolutions to problems. • Conduct account review meetings as necessary, identifying challenges and taking measures to ensure the successful delivery of work • Proactively propose ideas to enhance our advisory and design processes. • Lead the design portion of debrief meetings to win the confidence of clients in our abilities to continually improve our services to meet current and future reporting needs.
Revenue Generation • Oversee client design budgets and inform Account Directors of any anticipated overages or upsell opportunities. • Track time spent on client engagements. • Support our Account Directors by participating in client pitches, debriefs and new business meetings to retain/win work and grow accounts.
People • Oversee effective client knowledge transfer between and within teams throughout the course of a project. • Proactively provide support, guidance,?and advice to ensure the right advisory and design resources are in place and that service and quality standards are maintained. • Collaborate with other Labrador departments team to continually improve workflows and processes.
Enhance and Promote our Intelligence • Understand and advocate for Labrador's methodology for transparent communications. • Communicate our broader communication offerings to clients, demonstrating the value of a comprehensive communication framework beyond mere compliance. • Review US and international disclosures to understand and anticipate trends. • Gain familiarity with broader initiatives, such as CDP and UNGP, as well as ratings and indices. • Gain familiarity with sustainability and reporting standards including SEC rule making, GRI, IIRC Framework, TCFD, CDP the SDGs and UNGC. • Support marketing communications and campaigns.
