YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Patient Assistant:
Work closely with the dentist to provide hands-on support, including preparation of the treatment area and assisting in various aspects of patient care.
Explain procedures and aftercare instructions clearly to patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
Radiology & Documentation:
Conduct radiological exams with precision, adhering to protocols and achieving diagnostic-quality images.
Assist the dentist in documenting findings and treatment plans in patient records, maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.
Infection Control & Safety:
Maintain strict infection control standards when setting up and cleaning equipment and instruments ensuring patient and provider safety.
Adhere to all clinic and MTF standards, regulations, and established health protocols.
Ensure compliance with health, immunization, and vaccination requirements, and complete all specified DoD, DHA, and MTF training.
Productivity:
Adhere to productivity standards and maintain a level of performance consistent with other team members.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education:
Certificate or associate degree as a dental assistant/technician from a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or the American Dental Association (ADA) with at least one (1) year of experience within the preceding three (3) years.
Certification from a military dental technician or dental assistant school and at least one (1) year of experience within the past three (3) years.
Certification from a Red Cross Dental Assistant course and at least one (1) year experience within the preceding three (3) years.
At least three (3) years’ experience within the past five (5) years as a dental assistant in a private practice or a military clinic.
Membership in good standing with the American Association of Dental Assistants with required continuing education requirements and at least one (1) year of experience within the past three (3) years.
Graduation from a state accredited program for dental assistants or dental technology within the preceding twelve (12) months.
All training must have included a course in radiation physics; radiation biology; radiation health, safety, and protection; X-ray films and radiographic film quality; radiographic techniques, darkroom and processing techniques, and digital radiographic processing techniques.
Experience:
At least one (1) year of full-time experience within the past three (3) years in a private practice, military, or equivalent clinical setting.
Must be a United States citizen.
Licensure & Certifications:
Certification in radiography per 42 CFR Part 75.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Skills & Competencies:
Radiographic Proficiency:
Strong grasp of radiographic techniques, radiation safety, and image processing protocols.
Detail-Oriented Documentation:
Accuracy in documenting treatment plans and patient information records.
Infection Control Expertise:
Knowledgeable in sterilization and disinfection practices to ensure a safe patient and staff environment.
Confidentiality Awareness:
Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality, ensuring all patient interactions and records are managed with discretion.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Location:
Work will primarily be performed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and affiliated facilities within a forty (40) mile radius with potential assignments based on operational needs.
Schedule:
Hours may vary based on mission requirements, including surge support during mobilizations and demobilizations. Flexibility is required to meet mission demands.
Compliance:
Follow government, DoD, and MTF clinical standards, and record work hours accurately in DMHRSi and other required systems.
