WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for the Emerald Edge program helps us meet our goals for conservation by implementing and managing integrated and strategic marketing and communications plans in partnership with program staff in the Western US and Canada Division, TNC's Climate program and the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities team. They will also ensure marketing efforts are aligned with objectives at the division, North America region and global levels.

The Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, Emerald Edge is responsible for the management and implementation of strategic marketing programs to build awareness, engage stakeholders, influence conservation action and achieve revenue goals. They manage all aspects of specific programs and projects, including coordination with the divisional storytelling team and contractors. They work collaboratively with team members to elevate the highest marketing and communications priorities to target audiences across channels and find opportunities to coordinate for maximum impact. They identify ways to partner on high-profile events, donor engagements, partnership work, earned media outreach and strategic communications priorities.


They manage the budget and operational delivery of branding principles, whether applied internally or with external partners. They are responsible for relationships with internal partner(s) or key stakeholder group(s).

As Associate Director of Marketing and Communications for the Emerald Edge, you will:

  • Design, manage and implement multiple projects by coordinating the work of other professionals inside and outside the organization.


  • Be accountable for achievement of business and professional development goals and objectives.


  • Lead marketing initiatives through collaboration with key stakeholders.


  • Assist with creation/administration of budget, evaluate results and develop corrective strategies, as needed.


  • Hold responsibility and accountability for meeting strategic goals and objectives.


  • Have an opportunity to act independently within specific program or project goals. Work is checked through agreement by superiors.


  • Occasional travel is required for business meetings, team retreats, and/or training.


  • Manages one or more professional staff and accountable for achievement of team business and professional development goals and objectives.


  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Experience supervising vendors and contractors.

  • Agency experience is a plus.


  • Ability to persuasively convey the mission of The Nature Conservancy's Emerald Edge program, including its emphasis on Indigenous- and community-led conservation, Natural Climate Solutions and carbon mitigation activities, to diverse groups including donors, board members, partners and the public.


  • Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in relevant marketing disciplines. Cross disciplinary knowledge to support program objectives.


  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage budgets.


  • Commitment to and demonstrated leadership in cross-cultural and inclusive marketing and communications work, with preference for experience in Indigenous-led conservation and community relations practices.


  • Experience with a wide range of marketing tactics and sub-disciplines (e.g. publications, digital, media relations, strategic communications, thought leadership).


  • Experience in fundraising / donor communications.


  • Availability for occasional (quarterly) required travel in the U.S. and Canada; additional travel opportunities (not required) both in the U.S. and abroad will likely be available.




WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 8 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Experience supervising staff and teams.


  • Experience cultivating and managing client relationships.


  • Experience in project management, developing marketing strategies and measuring results.

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $78,000 - $117,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
