WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Climate & External Affairs Associate provides administrative, research, organizing and general support for climate & external affairs work. They coordinate efforts to build support for policies related to climate mitigation and adaptation, including but not limited to clean energy, agriculture and livestock, and land use. They will also support the Nature Conservancy's conservation goals by serving as a liaison and informational contact between the organization and outside agencies or companies.

The Climate & External Affairs Associate works on a variety of activities, with may include organizing, maintaining, and tracking files, and databases. The Associate is responsible for outreach and events, coordinating meetings, communications, and research. The Associate also assists in basic team administrative support.

This position may be based out of a home and/or TNC office within the state of Iowa.

Duties include:

  • Be a thought leader on the divisional and regional level around the advancement or our climate work with an eye to scope and scale.
  • Support coordination of funding and projects within Iowa that have multiple benefits including climate, water, and agriculture.
  • Research policies and practices related to energy and climate policy.
  • Collaborate on the Iowa Business Unit's efforts to fund the Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund.
  • Track other group's efforts on energy and climate policy in Iowa.
  • Build relationships with existing and future partners working on energy and climate policy, which may include building or participating in coalitions.
  • Coordinate events to educate legislators and other decision makers on clean energy, particularly producers and landowners use of solar energy, and other practices that reduce emissions.
  • Prepare communications and messaging around climate and energy.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years related work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience with databases, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities.
  • Experience researching information from divergent sources and compiling it into a cohesive reporting structure.
  • Experience writing and editing promotional and informational material.
  • Experience presenting to and communicating with internal and external audiences.
  • Experience working with partners/government agencies.
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership in a professional manner.
  • Valid driver's license

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $50,000 - $57,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
