Senior Strategic Initiatives Manager, Hotels.com

The Traveler Business Team has a mission to deliver the most convenient, rewarding, and memorable ways for people to travel and explore the world. This division has responsibility to build and drive the growth of our global consumer business across our Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, and Portfolio brands, and across all our lines of businesses including Hotels, Vacation Rentals, Air, Car, Packages, and Insurtech.

We are looking for a Strategy Senior Manager to join Hotels.com at Expedia Group. You will play a critical role in shaping Hotels.com's strategy, which is one of the largest brands in the Expedia portfolio with a fiercely loyal customer base. You will report to Hotels.com Head of Strategy. Your responsibilities will be to identify medium to long-term strategies for Hotels.com as well as working with cross-functional teams to drive profitable and sustainable growth through financial planning and forecasting for multiple markets across various regions.

As an individual contributor, you will play an integral role developing the strategic direction as well as monitoring, synthesizing, and optimizing financial performance. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to contribute to setting revenue targets and ensure alignment with our global business goals and objectives.

What you'll do:

  • Strategy Development: Play a key role in defining & operationalizing key medium- and long-term strategic initiatives to improve the consumer performance and competitive positioning
  • Evaluate strategic opportunities and develop perspective on implications and actions for the traveler:
    • Monitor the traveler ecosystem to identify market trends
    • Identify business / value driver opportunities and risks
    • Assess strategic options and work critical stakeholders to develop the business case
    • Communicate findings to senior stakeholders, build buy-in
  • Financial Planning: Partner with finance on annual financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis ensuring alignment per the brand's needs
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Hotels.com Leadership, Global Markets Leadership, Marketing, Product, Supply, and Finance teams to ensure alignment of revenue goals
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analytics to drive informed business decisions
  • Performance Metrics: Regularly evaluate performance against targets against established financial KPIs
  • Global Alignment: Foster consistency and alignment across diverse markets

Who you are:

  • 7+ years' experience in strategy and financial planning within consumer industries (ideally within travel and/or tech)
  • Strategic mindset: think long-term, anticipate market trends, and adapt to changing business landscapes
  • In-depth business case development leveraging analysis in an ambiguous and fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to turn strategy into business results and drive growth
  • Financial acumen: Strong understanding of financial metrics, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Excellent MS Office skills, highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with bias towards action
  • Strong relationship-building: able to build a strong network across the various stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Strategy experience at top-tier consulting firm is strongly preferred

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $ 155,000 to $ 217,000 . Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $248,0 00 , which is the top of the range, based on ong oing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in New York is $ 155,500 to $ 218,000 . Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $ 249,000 , which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Dallas/ Chicago is $ 146,000 to $ 204,500 . Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $233,500 , which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $155,000.00 to $217,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $248,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
