Position Summary:
The Tax Compliance Manager is responsible for managing the federal and State tax compliance activities of the organization, including management of federal audit examinations. This position facilitates the information gathering for timely and accurate preparation of the international and U.S. income tax returns, estimated taxes and extensions. Lastly, this position will respond to any and all IRS notices or inquiries related to income tax compliance or tax payments.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
Manage the data gathering of all intercompany transactions to facilitate the preparation of the transfer pricing documentation by external service providers. Provide assistance in reconciling transactions from the workpapers to the report to the general ledger. Ensure compliance with regards to the company's specific shipping tax regimes.
Manage the preparation and /or review of the quarterly income tax provision process for the quarterly and year-end tax provision computations for the group, including but not limited to provision schedules, NI reconciliation, M-3 adjustments, the net operating loss and credit carry forwards, the tax exposure roll forward, the quarterly interest calculation on tax exposures and other relevant data.
Facilitate the information gathering for the preparation of the income tax returns for the U.S., foreign bank account reports, trust returns and enterprise zone credits. Prepare the tonnage tax calculation annually. Work closely with external consultants by responding to inquiries, questions, and resolving issues related to the preparation of the income tax returns to ensure timely and accurate preparation. Review all federal and State returns and supporting schedules prior to filing to ensure information is reported accurately. Ensure all required payments and filings are made timely.
Ensure booked income on tax returns tie to audited financial statements for the relevant companies. Research U.S. and International tax issues as needed.
Assist in managing and responding to federal and State audit requests (Information Document Requests) as directed by the Tax Director. Provide assistance as needed for internal analysis and support for the audit and appeals process.
Prepare 1120 and 1120 F Federal Tax returns and various State tax returns.
Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of U.S. tax codes
Experience filing U.S. Federal and State tax returns
Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles
Proficient use of technology including MS Excel required

Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 6 years of experience in accounting, corporate tax experience, or related field required.
CPA Certification is preferred
