Position Summary:
The Director of Truck Procurement will enhance the value obtained from the Intermodal supply base by establishing and leading direction of drayage, sustainability, and supplier diversity activities in the USA and Canada. This leadership position will also work on contracting of supply as well. This leadership position will work closely with stakeholders to align the business objectives to deliver value and cost savings.
This position will also investigate new developments relative to Truck and develop strategic recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve quality and service. The Director will be responsible for negotiating commercial terms and ownership of the sourcing agreements with suppliers. Estimated annual spend is approximately $219M.
Provide support to the Vice President of Procurement in all needed tasks including but not limited to data analysis, presentation, reporting, strategic planning, contract negotiation, process mapping, sourcing technology, system updates and business development.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage successful motor carrier sourcing strategies. Strategy development involves supplier selection, sourcing tool selection, implementation, and successful utilization of a cost effective and efficient Truck network. Creative solution development.
Lead and direct Truck Procurement team Managers to attain goals and targets as identified by the strategy adhering to all Group HR requirements and employee objectives to build a "Best in Class" team.
Collaborate with Internal stakeholders; Intermodal, Equipment, Trade, M&A and Sales/Commercial teams to understand client's requirements to meet and exceed client's expectations as it relates to price and service. Lead initiatives to create cost effective solutions when selecting and utilizing suppliers.
Develop strategy and oversee RFX and related project plans as required. Ensure project plans and timelines are met as they relate to the strategic plan, tactical needs, and commercial requirements. Lead development of new methods for cost reduction initiatives by creative planning/operating practice evaluations.
Develop team KPI's that measure strategic objectives of the Group focusing on cost effective savings initiatives. Improve reporting process to capture key metrics that drive business decisions for Executive management review.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with external suppliers focusing on key strategic initiatives.
