We are seeking a Director of Engineering - Data and Analytics Platform who is passionate about building highly scalable, reliable, and performant platforms. This role is critical in transforming our Data and Analytics platform, enhancing capabilities in advanced analytics and AI, and improving data observability and operations to support enterprise-wide decision-making.
They will promote a company-wide data-first mindset and advocate for best practices in data use. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data architecture, analytics, and business intelligence, along with a hands-on approach to implementing a comprehensive data strategy.
Key Roles and responsibilities:
Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for data and analytics, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term strategic objectives.
Own the end-to-end execution of the data strategy, from data acquisition to data visualization, ensuring alignment with the broader company vision.
Drive the technology strategy, end-to-end architecture, and roadmaps aligned with business and platform needs required to deliver the necessary infrastructure, services, and solutions.
Drive cross-functional innovation and influence the broader organizational strategy through data-driven insights and initiatives.
Responsible for leading technology initiatives and implement best practices related to Data Analytics and Engineering, Data Observability, Infrastructure operations, and AI capabilities.
Oversee the design, implementation, and management of scalable data architectures and pipelines, driving the creation and deployment of new data models and analytics tools in production.
Attract, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of technology and product leaders, software engineers, data scientists, data analysts, and product management professionals.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and other teams across the organizations ensure technology and data strategies align with business goals.
Develop policies and procedures for data management, access, and usage across the organization to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Build data literacy programs and promote a data-centric culture, emphasizing the value of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Implement automation and process improvements to increase the efficiency and scalability of data operations.
Define and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all production systems and data sets, ensuring 24x7 support.
Job Contribution:
Over 15 years of experience in technology organizations, including 8+ years of building and leading technical teams across engineering, product management, data science, and data analysis functions.
Over 10 years of experience building large-scale data analytics platforms using real-time streaming analytics, data warehouse, data lakes, Data Pipelines, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools at scale in both public and private cloud environments.
Proficient in technologies such as Software Architecture and Design, Java, NodeJS, Microservices, Snowflake, Kafka, SQL, No-SQL databases, Tableau, and related tools.
Extensive experience with advanced analytics, machine learning models, and data science techniques, including the development and deployment of data pipelines and algorithms for predictive and prescriptive analytics.
Demonstrated experience in shaping technical vision, reviewing data architectures, and utilizing data frameworks and tools across the stack. Proficient in designing and implementing solutions from inception to production and ongoing support.
Strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate strategy, vision, value, plans, and execution status at all required forums internally and externally.
Capable of independently driving strategic goals to completion while fostering collaboration and breaking down silos that impede business initiatives.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into effective technical solutions.
Experienced in designing and implementing robust business intelligence systems that streamline KPI reporting, enhance data visualization, and support real-time decision-making.
Ability to promote data literacy and a data-driven culture within the organization.
A proven talent attractor with a successful track record of recruiting top-tier professionals, demonstrating expertise in identifying, engaging, and onboarding exceptional talent across various roles.
Proficient in using modern software development tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Experience with Azure cloud services is highly desired, further enhancing proficiency in cloud-based technologies and solutions.
Experience with Adobe Analytics or Adobe Customer Journey Analytics or similar analytics platforms is highly desirable.
Our Director of Engineering - Data and Analytics Platform, earns between $191,400.00-$287,200.00 USD Annual, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
