Employee Relations Analyst:

The VIAVI Global Consultant Team is the first point of contact for employees, managers and HR partners regarding HR related inquiries. Responsibilities include managing onboarding for all VIAVI new hires, conducting New Employee Orientation and completing the I9 process. Other responsibilities include providing guidance to managers on processing various employee data changes in Workday, managing offboarding as well as conducting exit interviews and processing unemployment claims.

Job Description:


  • Be the first point of contact for HR related inquires, systems and programs, policies and procedures, including:

  • Provide training, guidance and escalate issues as needed to Senior HR Partners and Managers

  • Support on-boarding processes, including hosting New Employee Orientation, ensuring appropriate documentation is received for new employees

  • Ensure accuracy of data prior to automated upload to Viavi systems; including maintenance of employees’ records using HRIS (Workday); semi-complex to complex employee data changes (Promotions, transfers, international transfers, salary adjustments, department transfers, reporting relationship, etc)

  • Professionally, tactfully, and diplomatically respond to inquiries related to the various HR functions while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times.

  • Provide HR reports using Workday and other Viavi tools; provide analysis of data as appropriate  

  • Process unemployment claim and other ad hoc requests

  • Work on assigned projects with Centers of Excellence (CoE) such as Compensation, Benefits, Recruitment and Talent Development

  • Provide guidance on Employee Relations issues and escalate as appropriate 

  • Provide data analysis and audits 

  • Responsible for keeping our employment law posters up to date as required by Federal and State Labor Law

  • Take initiative and make recommendations to improve work efficiencies and streamline HR processes and systems

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous experience with Oracle HRIS or Workday is desirable but not essential 

  • 2+ years’ experience customer service  

  • 2+ years’ experience of HR policies and procedures and their application in business context

  • 2+ years’ experience with presentation and listening skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • Comfortable working with highly sensitive and confidential information

  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, good judgment in setting priorities and coordinating a variety of multiple tasks and projects required

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively, while maintaining attention to detail

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload with the appropriate sense of urgency

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Able to interpret and explain complex organizational policies, procedures and protocols and independently compose complex documents and reports for internal and external distribution.

  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational skills, and superior verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy

  • Strong teamwork ability to share and/or coordinate workloads as necessary

  • Proven ability to consistently and positively contribute in a high-paced, changing work environment

  • Flexibility and ability to work with various levels within HR

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
