As a member of the Information Management (IM) team, the Development Officer provides advice, support and resources related to applications, data management and other information systems used by colleagues across the Development Office. This position reports to the Associate Director, Information Management.
The Development Officer works to support business requirements and specifications for systems related projects and ensures that business needs are met in an efficient and customer-oriented manner. They extract data and deliver reports and summaries using a variety of methods. The Officer also supports the process of pulling mail files, event invitations and prospecting lists, reviews and approves list assets created by other IM team members and supports all email data transfers between Blackbaud CRM (internally referred to as Atlas CRM) and Marketo.
The Development Officer supports the planning, managing, analysis and coordination of the data needs for the frontline fundraising teams. They work closely with Integrated Marketing and Communications and Donor Relations, serving as Atlas data liaison and database support. The Officer completes routine database maintenance projects and identifies areas to improve operational and reporting efficiency.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and maintains an advanced understanding of MGH Development Systems and plays a role in defining and resolving user needs and systems issues.
Serves as a software support contact for internal users for all issues related to the MGH's fundraising information systems. Effectively troubleshoots and resolves issues when appropriate.
Under the guidance of the Associate Director, completes all data transfers between relational database (Atlas CRM) and third-party email platform (Marketo), enforcing data integrity and office policy standards.
Assists the Associate Director's work related to Atlas CRM customizations, including documentation support, and tracking business needs and the customization queue.
Works closely with Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC) team, serving as Atlas data liaison and supporting email data projects and collaborations involving IMC, IM, and Atlas database support. Completes marketing data integrity tasks related to Atlas data in Marketo and Marketo data in Atlas, including maintenance and support of nightly global update processes. Regularly reviews IMC calendar and identifies/fills process and project gaps.
Serves as primary point of contact with the Donor Relations team, assisting the Associate Director in efforts to support processes, workflows, and data needs. Attends monthly IM/Donor Relations team meetings and provides updates and insight on new and ongoing projects.
Supports the planning, managing, analysis and coordination of the data needs for the frontline fundraising teams, including Leadership Giving, Principal Giving and Mid-Level Giving programs. The Development Officer is the primary IM point of contact for these programs and manages the prioritization and execution of all related requests.
Completes ad hoc analysis projects and provides actionable data summaries to support strategic decisions throughout the office.
Supports efforts to accurately define and document key policies, procedures, and business processes. Identifies documentation gaps and creates/updates related materials.
Works as primary point of contact with IMC on all web related data projects and policy development initiatives.
Participates in all aspects of the list production process and produces email, mailing, event invitation and prospecting lists for the Development Office, including high profile institutional events.
Reviews, proofs, and collaborates on queries, exports and lists produced by the other Development Officers on the IM team.
Interacts regularly with a large relational database, including occasional use and basic editing of SQL queries.
Follows established procedures to ensure the integrity of the MGH donor database including gift and biographical information.
Supports database administration tasks including the upload and editing of high-volume data.
Identifies and leads data integrity projects using Atlas CRM fundraising software.
Utilizes Atlas CRM in combination with Microsoft Excel to structure and continuously improve results reporting capabilities for the entire annual giving team and to help drive new and existing strategies for mid-level and high-end needs.
Supports the preparation of specialized appeals managing the creation of marketing files to higher value donors on an as-needed basis, making certain that deadlines are met and files are appropriately vetted.
Participates in the process of planning the Information Management team's measurable yearly goals, objectives and initiatives.
Stays informed of new technologies and current IS trends in fundraising.
Works on special projects as requested.

Qualifications
This position requires 2-4 years of experience and a bachelor's degree. We are looking for someone who has been successful working in a fundraising office or as part of a team in a client-facing or relationship-building role.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, abilities and competencies:
Strong familiarity with Windows operating system.
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office suite with strengths in Excel.
Significant experience with relational databases (experience with The Raiser's Edge or Blackbaud CRM preferred).
Significant experience with email marketing tools (experience with Marketo preferred)
Knowledge and understanding of basic SQL queries and terminology preferred.
Experience working with non-technical users in an application support role.
Ability to work with a team and participate in a service-oriented program.
Ability to develop and clarify business requirements and specifications for system related projects and ensure that business needs are met in an efficient manner.
