The Radiology Technical Assistant works as a fundamental part of the Radiology healthcare team. Works under the direct supervision of a Radiologic Technologists and Radiologists. The Technical assistant is responsible for assisting the technologists as instructed during routine procedures (i.e. such as lifting, transporting, and directing patients in and out of the Radiology suite). Assists RSR's with scheduling Imaging exams and answering phone calls. Technical assistant reports directly to the supervisors, technical manager or operations manager
Works with the supervisor and technologists to assist in efficient daily operations and patient workflow
Provides safe and compassionate care to patients of all ages
Follows proper Patient Identification Process
Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies including HIPAA and Hand Hygiene
Appropriately assists patients identified as a falls risk
Exercises sound independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under pressure and in a variety of situations
Ability to locate emergency equipment, code carts and understands importance of calling the Code Team vs. the Rapid Response Team
Monitors and replenishes the department's stock and linen supplies
Prepares and cleans the equipment and room before/after each patient to maintain a clean and safe work environment
Assists technologists with patient positioning, moving and lifting during exams in the department
Expedites patient transport between departments when necessary
Maintains professional behavior and communications within the department and throughout the hospital
Achieves positive relationships with patients, families, visitors and other healthcare providers and contributes to a favorable public image of the radiology dept and hospital
Ability to utilize EPIC, phone and paging systems to assist at the front desk
Facilitates expediting patient's visits without compromising patient care
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Preferred: Some college or associate's degree
