Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer to be responsible for delivering enterprise-level IT support with a focus on technical set-up, support and maintenance of public and private cloud-based IT services into the organization and leveraging engineering tools and processes for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and support of Zurich's public cloud infrastructure. Specific duties include: scan a broad spectrum of internal/external, structured/unstructured data sources to define the optimal data set for testing the hypotheses; partner across the organization to connect these data sources to build a data set; prepare internal/external, structured/unstructured data to build/refresh/rebuild predictive models; support the design, development and validation of models built using a variety of modeling techniques; support the monitoring of model accuracy and working with stakeholders to ensure the model is used appropriately and generates the desired impact; support the development of best practices and improvements to analytic techniques to solve business challenges; utilize established financial systems to track budgets and highlight variances in order to manage and control specific cost variables; look externally to research primary data sources, select relevant information, continually evaluate key themes in technology, make recommendations to inform policy in the area of IT; identify existing IT assets for new opportunities where possible, research best practice and review and analyze detailed business models to support senior management in developing and improving IT processes and systems. May work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. 40% of the time.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology Management, or a closely related field of study, plus 7 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Release Manager, Project Release Manager, Release Engineer, or similar Agile PM or other CI/CD pipeline release scheduler position. Must have 7 years of experience with each of the following: developing and managing continuous integration and continuous deployment using Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jira, and AWS; utilizing core cloud services including compute (EC2 and VMs) and storage (S3, Blob, and Cloud Storage); working with stakeholders from the Product and Financial teams to validate model outputs and ensure they supported strategic decision-making process. Must also have 5 years of experience with each of the following: working with backup and disaster recovery in cloud environments; working with cloud networking, VPCs, subnets, and VPNs; developing and maintaining IaC, Automate infrastructure provisioning, and configuration using Terraform and ARM templates; working with Azure VMs, Blob storage, Azure Functions, SQL Database, Azure AD, and ARM Templates; conducting comprehensive assessments of internal and external data sources, both structured and unstructured, to define optimal datasets for validating business hypotheses; and monitoring models for performance metrics, ensuring ongoing accuracy and relevance. Additionally, must have 3 years of experience on implementing and managing containerized application using Docker, Deploy and orchestrate containers using Kubernetes. May work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. 40% of the time.
