SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Reporting to the VP Operations, this position will be responsible for the strategic sourcing, quality and production of United Sports Brands products. This position will spearhead the development and management of our vendor base and will work with these partners to manage and optimize cost, quality and service. This strategic leader will be responsible for partnering with external vendor partners and internal departments (Product Development, Sourcing, Demand Planning, Product Line Management) to ensure high-quality products are delivered on-time and achieve financial goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strategic Sourcing:
• Manage the relationship with all factory partners and contract manufacturers – including qualifications, contractual agreements, cost negotiations, terms & conditions and ongoing inspections.
• Develop the vendor network to ensure quality product and uninterrupted service and supply.
• Source new suppliers when required.
• Establish and pursue annual cost saving goals.
• Establish and maintain approval standards.
• Develop metrics and scorecards to track supplier performance and utilize performance data to improve quality and drive supplier accountability.
Production Planning
• Work closely with Supply Chain team to understand forecasted demand and ensure adequate and available capacity.
• Track factory production and re-balance plan as necessary to ensure on-time delivery
• Monitor and manage factory performance as relates to service and delivery.
Compliance
• Ensure compliance with company, government and regulatory requirements and standards.
• Maintain Product Information Management.
• Oversee product testing and research.
Quality Assurance
• Establish and enforce production & quality standards with all suppliers; oversee quality control initiatives, including QA analysis and solutions.
• Create, implement, and manage a consistent global quality plan.
• Develop and oversee company’s Quality Policy and related systems & processes.
POSITION SPECIFICS:
• This is a full-time position
• Typical work hours and days are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• This position is expected to travel approximately 40% of the time, including internationally.
• This position requires in-office attendance of at least 3 days per week (subject to increase in future).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Direct supervision of assigned staff.
• Recruit, train, lead, develop, evaluate and retain staff associated with related functions.
• Responsible for quarterly reviews of direct reports and ensuring all staff has outlined performance objectives.
• Work with Human Resources for coaching & performance counseling.
PAY TRANSPARENCY:
• The Company is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
• The salary range for this role in Fountain Valley is $160,000 - $180,000.
• In addition, you may be eligible for additional compensation, such as a bonus. Employees may also be eligible for a wide range of other benefits, including health & wellness benefits, retirement, time off, employee discounts, and others.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• A highly successful track record Sourcing, QA processes, and product development in sporting goods industry or related industries.
• Experience working with overseas factories in Asia and Central America
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience.
• Effective communication skills and adaptable communication style for interacting with team members, management, suppliers, and customers.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, customers, vendors, etc.
• Time management and organizational skills for planning and executing both large and small projects and initiatives.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills for coming up with ideas to routine or complex problems.
• Advance knowledge and experience with spreadsheets.
• Working knowledge and comfort with using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Teams.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: be in a stationary position 50% of the time; occasionally move about inside the office to access fine cabinets, office machinery (such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.); constantly operate a computer; occasionally ascend/descend stairs; constantly position self to maintain files in file cabinets; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer); and frequently move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds across office for various needs. Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions if projects/opportunities arise. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
