The Product Engineering - Design Team Leader, using his/her past experience, leads and mentors the members of the Project Engineering team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage performance and provide leadership for the team to be successful.
Ensure that team members are properly trained and prepared to meet the organization's requirements. (training as needed)
Assist in the proposal phases with concepts and costing information.
Ensure the design work for integration projects is complete and progressing as required. This includes the creation of System Description of Operation and Risk Assessment documents.
Provide necessary engineering/technical resources to support integration project requirements.
Perform engineering tasks when necessary to meet project requirements/schedule/deadlines.
Interface with customers to ensure that a project's technical issues are understood and resolved promptly.
Work with Project Managers to resolve issues involving projects and the Project Engineering team.
Develop outside Makino engineering sources to provide expertise not available within Makino or necessary to fulfill the timing of projects when orders exceed in-house manpower.
Quote engineering options to Project Managers to provide costs for marketing.
Mentor engineers to help them achieve their career goals.
Support the Project Manager with engineering approvals for third-party purchases.
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides technical engineering leadership and support to the Project Engineering team and contract engineers whether at Makino or an outsourced engineering location.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A basic understanding of all engineering disciplines.
Experience in having responsibilities for executing systems integration projects
Ability to effectively interface with project customers and third-party vendors
Demonstrate leadership qualities in the execution of tasks and projects
Able to utilize Office products: Word, Excel, etc.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's in Science Degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
5 - 10 engineering experience with interdisciplinary exposure to electrical, mechanical and software engineering
