STANDARD HOURS: 40 hours per week. Typical hours Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.



SALARY RANGE: $25.81 - $27.82 per hour



*Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed

within the range

based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.




POSITION SUMMARY


Manage and oversee day to day operations of the fire safety program, fire safety complex, mobile training units and remote facilities in accordance to established policies and procedures. Responsible for maintenance, organization and appearance of the Fire Training Grounds, Fire Aparatus and Fire Equipment, including preventative maintenance of all tools, equipment and facilities used in the instructional process. Also responsible for assisting instructors in safety instruction, demonstrations, individual help for students etc.

Essential Functions Statement(s)


Create and manage the distribution, application and adherence of policy and procedure by all, while on the Fire Training Grounds or using any of the Public Safety Facilities or equipment.


Manage the logistics of all equipment being requested for training and education within the NWTC District. Ensure the safe operations of all equipment and facilities as required by state, industry, and OSHA standards.


Transport Fire Apparatus, Mobile Trailers and other equipment as needed throughout the district.


Manage maintenance and inspection of all fire facility and apparatus, equipment and tools, testing of fire pumps and aerial devices, ground ladders, SCBA and ensure the compliance of NFPA and WI SPS 330 required by the state. Conduct fit tests for both students and instructors.


Assist and monitor students as needed in the Fire Science Programs.


Proctor written state certification exams and ensure we meet or exceed the state IFSAC requirements.


Work with instructors to ensure lab equipment supports curriculum needs.


Assist in the development of the vision and direction regarding departments capital and operational budget planning for the Fire Science Department, including research with vendors, negotiating prices of new vehicles, equipment, and structures.


Maintain a flexible schedule to best manage the practical skills classes and greatest need on the Fire Training Grounds.


Promote the fire science program offered by NWTC at various public functions and events, e.g Job fairs, recruiting events, open houses and tours etc.

SKILLS & ABILITIES



Education: Associate Degree in Fire Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Fire Service.



Experience:



  • Two years of related experience as a professional or volunteer in fire service.

Certificates & Licenses



  • Class A CDL, Combination Vehicle endorsement preferred

  • Certified in the State of Wisconsin as a Firefighter Level 1, Firefighter Level 2, Fire Emergency Services Instructor 1 (FESI-1)

  • Certified Driver-Operator Pumper and Aerial and Fire Emergency Services Instructor 2 preferred.

  • Knowledge of Wisconsin Fire Service training and certification standards.




Other Requirements



  • Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable under the districts standard insurance policy terms.

  • Thorough understand of current fire codes, statutes, guiding WTSB directives and IFSAC requirements.
