Governors State University's College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the
Division of Psychology and Counseling
to begin in either January 2025 or August 2025. Psychology faculty support an undergraduate program (500 majors and minors), a Clinical M.A. program, and an Ed.S. in School Psychology.
The GovState school psychology program is seeking someone to teach within the Ed.S. program. This person should demonstrate a commitment to: effective, multicultural approaches to teaching and mentoring, serving underserved student populations, integrating peer and student feedback, and working collaboratively and harmoniously with a diverse team of faculty. Responsibilities will include: assisting with coordination and teaching in the school psychology program; opportunities to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology; maintaining an active scholarship agenda, and service to the university, community, and the profession of psychology.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Earned doctorate or will be completed with doctorate in School Psychology by position start date.

  • Eligibility for licensure/certification as a School Psychologist in the State of Illinois.

  • Experience as a School Psychologist in a K-12 setting.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in School Psychology from a NASP or APA accredited program.

  • Eligibility for or current certification as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP).

  • Teaching experience in a school psychology program.

  • Evidence of experience in teaching and mentoring graduate students.

  • Experience teaching educational assessment.

  • Experience in supervision of practice and internships.

  • Experience with underserved student populations.

  • Ability to work independently and work collaboratively with groups.

  • Ability to integrate feedback.

  • Scholarship in the field of psychology
