Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Computer Science in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago seeks qualified candidates for an appointment as Lecturer beginning Fall 2025. The department is based at Loyola's Lake Shore Campus and has 17 full-time faculty members serving approximately 500 undergraduate majors and minors and 120 master's students enrolled in computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, and software engineering degree programs. We welcome candidates with strong teaching profiles in foundational computer science classes including discrete structures, computer programming in Python and Java, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and database systems. This position involves teaching three to four courses per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels with an emphasis on introductory and core courses. The successful candidate will also engage in professional development activities as well as service at the department level or above.

Qualifications:

The candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Candidates for the position must demonstrate clear potential for excellence in teaching (particularly introductory programming and core classes) and student mentorship, as well as the ability to create and update courses and curricula in computer science. The candidate must be willing to support the mission of Loyola University Chicago and the goals of a Jesuit, Catholic education.
