The Facilities Assistant is responsible for assisting and carrying out tasks required to successfully achieve the facilities overall cleanliness and day to day needs. Facilities Assistant must be able to work in a group or alone, while assisting other departments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reports to Facility Foreman for Daily work tasks
Basic painting interior/exterior
Drywall experience
Basic electrical
Basic plumbing
Basic vehicle maintenance
Performs daily walk to pick up and dispose of all miscellaneous trash found on the grounds
Keeps grounds swept
Keeps Transfer Car Pad and Rails clean and dirt free
Other duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous marina experience preferred
Ability to work safely around the water
Must have a valid driver’s license
Ability to operate forklift, scissor lift, and man lift
Ability to understand and always execute safety and environmental procedures
Ability to work in all weather conditions
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to regularly lift, stand, walk, climb, twist, pull, push, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, use hands and fingers, and handle tools or controls
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
Ability to wear and use PPE in all conditions
Must be punctual
Excellent verbal communication skills
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Detail oriented and ability to multitask
Understand the customer is first and foremost
