The International Miami Department of Everest Reinsurance Company, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for a Assistant Vice President, Treaty P&C Underwriter to join our Miami office.
We seek a talented, enthusiastic, dynamic, and technical Underwriter to join our team. This position is of an excellent opportunity to join a growing, energetic team in a fast-paced environment and contribute to its profitable growth. The Underwriter will be responsible for our Latin America treaty book's growth, maintenance, and profitability. The position will be responsible for developing, marketing, soliciting, selecting, sustaining, and underwriting Treaty P&C and related regional reinsurance lines, including proportional and non-proportional treaties.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Quote, analyze, underwrite, service, and process new and existing treaty business as per Everest Re's Underwriting guidelines and delegated authority levels.
Manage, promote, and enhance long-term client/broker relationships.
Develop a regional business plan and strategy following business segments and regional goals.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all internal underwriting models in collaboration with Pricing Actuaries and Cat Modelers.
Responsible for the upkeep of the accuracy of real-time aggregate accumulations.
Assist with the management, development, and strengthening of all members of the Miami Treaty Team in collaboration with other Underwriters.
Analyze the current market trends and target potential clients, brokers, and products while maintaining, building, and improving relationships with existing clients and brokers.
Provide and encourage exceptional service to existing and potential clients.
Actively market Everest Re products and services to clients, soliciting new business submissions while gathering market intelligence.
Provide cross-functional resources and expertise to improve catastrophe-related business strategy and operations, including corporate underwriting, pricing, portfolio management, analytics, claims handling, accounting, marketing, and operational departments to achieve collective team goals.
Implement departmental strategy, leadership, and management duties, including employee engagement and development, cross-departmental work and leadership, and effective working relationships across the enterprise.
Provide industry and enterprise leadership and engagement. Team up with regional colleagues and internal/external business associates, promoting fluency and knowledge exchange. Support and strengthen enterprise culture and engage beyond the boundaries of one's functional job description.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
University Degree in insurance, business, or related field preferred.
Industry-related certification is favored, such as CPCU, ARe or ACII.
10+ years of underwriting or broking experience in LatAm P&C Treaty business.
Hands-on treaty portfolio experience, including designing and implementing technical rating, tracking, and controlling catastrophic accumulations.
Experience with major clients and/or brokers in the LatAm region.
Skillful in developing business plans for the LatAm region.
Must be fluent in Spanish.
