Job Description:
ECS is seeking a qualified Network Engineer (Int) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy.
We are seeking candidates committed to high quality to provide courteous and accurate technical information and support in a timely, efficient and professional manner. This position performs activities associated with implementation, integration and support of computer systems in mission critical response operations environment.
Responsibilities include:
Designs and plans complex network systems for LANs, WANs, and WLANs
Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
Evaluates future needs of a statewide education network and Internet services
Plans for upgrades or configuration changes as required
Tracks network utilization patterns, including both bandwidth utilization as well as applications in use
Evaluates new technologies for use in the network
Maintains current understanding of evolving protocols, technologies, and applications
Recommends updates or changes to the network to meet anticipated future demands
Provides ongoing instruction in network technologies and protocols to other team members and clients
Provides mentoring and leadership to less experienced engineers
Must be available for after-hours maintenances and will join the engineering on-call rotation
Assists in the implementation of enterprise networks and network components.
Monitors network performance and executes maintenance and operations plans.
Provides ongoing maintenance and support of hardware and software network components and applications.
Provides user and administrator training and conducts network component testing.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in networking, computer science, or a related field AND two years of related work experience AND one or more entry-level network certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, PCCET etc.,)
OR
Associate's Degree in networking, computer science, or a related field AND four years of related work experience AND one or more entry-level network certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, PCCET etc.,)
OR
Six years of related work experience AND one or more entry-level network certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, PCCET etc.,)
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract
Must be a US Citizen
Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or willing to relocate
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desired Skills:
Active Top Secret or DOE Q Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance throughout the life of the contract.
Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers
Project Management Professional certification
Experience supporting complex government and programs of a research and development nature
Experience with a Customer Services Management Tool
Mastery of Cisco Meraki wireless network infrastructure design, hardware installation, and software/firmware administration.
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Degree
IT Certifications (A+, Security +, Network+, CCNA)
