ECS is seeking a System Administrator (Intermediate) to work in our Morgantown, WV office. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
Job Description:
ECS is seeking a qualified System Administrator (Intermediate) to support transformative science and technology solutions for the Department of Energy.
Working alongside a dynamic operations team that includes technical engineers, DevOps engineers, development teams and technical leadership, the System Administrator will support the existing windows-based COTS application and ultimately will need to be comfortable with transitioning to a completely new Linux platform environment. The position will focus on managing all systems administration duties including troubleshooting and resolving issues at the operating system or server level. Support activities may include, but not be limited to:
Performance monitoring and analysis
Application-level upgrades and patching
Database Server Patching, Database Index maintenance and backups
Operating System configuration, upgrades and patching
STIG installation and verification
Incident identification, root cause analysis and resolution
Recommendation and implementation of new and improved processes and procedures for system administration and maintenance
Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree AND two years of related work experience AND one of more related entry/mid-level certifications (e.g., Azure Associate Level Certification, RHCSA, CompTIA Linux+, VMware Certified Technical Associate etc.)
OR
Associate's Degree AND four years of related work experience AND one of more related entry/mid-level certifications (e.g., Azure Associate Level Certification, RHCSA, CompTIA Linux+, VMware Certified Technical Associate etc.)
OR
Six years of related work experience AND one of more related entry/mid-level certifications (e.g., Azure Associate Level Certification, RHCSA, CompTIA Linux+, VMware Certified Technical Associate etc.)
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or DOE Q clearance throughout the life of the contract
Must be a US Citizen
Must currently live in Morgantown, WV or willing to relocate
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
2+ years administering and troubleshooting 'N' tier web applications to include database servers, services servers, and web servers in Linux environments
2+ years managing the deployment, maintenance and operations of web-based systems in Linux environments
2+ years basic network administration and troubleshooting
Proven expertise in at least one infrastructure application such as: Active Directory, monitoring systems, DR/BC software, log aggregation, etc...
Experience supporting web-based systems performance analysis and optimization
Firm understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) concepts
Knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and how to configure them
Knowledge of general automation practices
Understanding of patch automation concepts and capabilities (e.g. WSUS)
Demonstrated ability to apply an understanding of systems administration and operations to proactively identify and remediate day-to-day technical and operational challenges
Experience troubleshooting connectivity issues across all layers of the TCP/IP stack
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to interact with customer stakeholders, including senior leadership
Desired Skills:
Powershell automation experience
Experience working with RSA Archer GRC
Experience troubleshooting messaging queuing technologies, especially RabbitMQ
Experience working as a Cyber Security professional
Experience with CI/CD environments
Experience supporting routing troubleshooting and analysis, as a helpdesk engineer for web-based Linux applications
Solid understanding of Systems Architecture and component integration concepts
Linux Professional Institute (LPI): LPIC System Administrator
Two or more years experience supporting US Government customers
Project Management Professional certification
Experience supporting complex government and programs of a research and development nature
