MilliporeSigma Emerging Biotech team is a leading innovator in the biotech industry, dedicated to advancing cutting-edge research and development from early-stage concepts through process development and scaling up to GMP biomanufacturing process.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced business development professional to drive our efforts in expanding partnerships as well as driving growth within the emerging biotech ecosystem with our extensive product portfolio.
The Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in identifying, developing, and managing new business opportunities within the emerging biotech sector, specifically focusing on the transition from early process development to GMP biomanufacturing. An essentials skill required is a hunting mindset for partners to position and conduct seeding activities of our platform portfolios.
This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Customer Applications, Technical Services, and other MilliporeSigma Life Sciences partners to drive strategic partnerships and business growth. This role requires strong networking, excellent listening skills and customer engagement including participation at customer sites, regional/national conferences, symposiums and internal events.
Person must be based in San Fransisco Bay area. Travel out of bay area as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Opportunity Identification: Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within emerging biotech for end-to-end biomanufacturing processing.
Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with biotech companies, academic institutions, and research organizations to foster strategic collaborations and licensing agreements.
Emerging Biotech Market: Comprehensive emerging biotech market understanding to correctly identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and potential partners or clients. The candidate must be able to consolidate and share with internal partners for further analysis. Utilize insights to inform business strategy and decision-making.
Project Management: Oversee the progress of all the activities, including partnerships, customer engagements, coordinating customer support, seeding of products and services, with external and internal partners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including R&D, customer applications, technical services, technology management and legal, to align business development activities with the company's scientific objectives.
Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and networking events to stay informed about industry developments and promote MilliporeSigma's capabilities.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field. Or related years of experience. Advanced degree (MBA, PhD) is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of emphasis on biotech or pharmaceutical industry
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities. Proficiency in project management and business analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Production of biologics is a plus.
Experience as a biomanufacturing/process development scientist a plus.
Customer centric, self-motivated, results-driven, strong listening skills and capable of working independently as well as a strong collaborator. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range:
73,000 - 219,000 USD
