We are looking for a new Accounting Specialist to play a vital role in supporting our construction projects by ensuring timely billing, collections, and compliance with financial and regulatory standards. By maintaining accurate financial records and collaborating with project teams, you will help enable smooth project operations, ensuring that accounts receivable and payroll processes align with contract terms and California's prevailing wage laws. This role is essential in upholding financial integrity, supporting project efficiency, and facilitating seamless operations across our teams. Internally, we call this role Accounting Clerk.

Accounting Specialist Pay Range: $50,000 - $62,000, depending on experience

Location: hybrid with 2-3 days each week in the office

Core Contributions:


  • Accounts Receivable Management

    • Generate and send invoices to clients, ensuring accurate billing.
    • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow-up on outstanding invoices.
    • Process customer payments and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Payroll Processing

    • Prepare and process certified payroll reports, ensuring compliance with prevailing wage laws.
    • Ensure accuracy in timekeeping and wage calculations for construction projects.
  • Record Keeping

    • Maintain organized financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payment histories.
    • Assist with data entry and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Compliance and Auditing

    • Stay informed on federal and state regulations regarding prevailing wages, construction labor compliance, and accounts receivable.
    • Support audit process by providing necessary documentation.
  • Financial Reporting

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to receivables.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration

    • Partner with construction project managers and sales teams to ensure contract compliance and address billing issues.

Essential Experiences


  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent job experience
  • 5+ years of experience in accounts receivable and general accounting
  • Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage regulations in California
  • Experience using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel)
  • Knowledge of labor laws and regulations in California is preferred
