Department: Communications Center FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The Assistant Communications Supervisor oversees the daily activities within the Communications Center and is directly responsible for the activities of the staff. The Communications Lead has the authority, in the absence of the Communications Supervisor or Communications Manager, to enforce policy and make supervisory decisions affecting the positive outcome of the organization's operation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily operations of the shift and provides direction to on-duty staff.
Oversees staff including evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, as assigned.
Adheres to all policies of agencies, institutional and of regulatory bodies.
Oversees response time performances for each call classification to meet defined response time requirements for the shift.
Ensures that customer service expectations, and contractual obligations are met.
Ensures that Dispatch protocols are followed, in cooperation with the Communications Manager.
Keeps the Communications Manager, Operations Manager, and On-Duty Operations Supervisor informed of the status of operations, problems, or anticipated problems; and makes recommendations for changes in the local operating environment.
Makes recommendations to develop new or revise existing company policies and procedures as needed.
Responsible for ensuring that company objectives, as identified and formulated, are met. Authority is limited to making recommendations for corrective action that may result in suspension or termination.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Florida Drivers License
Possess and maintain current certifications in the following:
Current BLS
Two (2) years of experience as a Dispatcher in a high-performance inter-facility system, with a fully integrated Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, including efficient unit hour utilization and overall resource management.
One (1) year experience actively participating in a quality program and a Q/A system, encompassing all aspects of the Communications
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows programs, including ability to use spreadsheets and create graphs.
Demonstrated experience in the Emergency Communications, law enforcement, or related industries.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess and maintain current Medical Priority's Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)
One (1) year experience as a Dispatcher in a high-performance EMS system, with a fully integrated System Status Management program, including efficient unit hour utilization
Current or prior EMT/Paramedic certification
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally: Walking inside, carrying no greater than 25 pounds, kneeling, stooping, bending, leaning
