The Senior Accountant manages the Center's financial accounting systems in compliance with Company, Center, and Government requirements. This position ensures that systems, processes, and deliverables are established and executed accurately and timely. The role involves analyzing systems and data to resolve issues, maintaining adequate controls to prevent fraud, and ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information. The Senior Accountant also supervises the Finance/Accounting Department staff, providing guidance and training to ensure effective performance.
Responsibilities
Manage financial accounting systems in compliance with Company, Center, and Government requirements
Analyze systems and data to resolve issues and problems
Ensure timely and accurate payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting
Supervise and train Finance/Accounting Department staff
Implement and manage internal controls to safeguard financial activities
Assist with budget planning, development, and management
Motivate and hold staff accountable for performance
Provide required training for new and current employees
Maintain systems to prevent theft, fraud, and abuse
Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial services

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school in accounting, or in an associated business field including satisfactorily passing Intermediate Accounting I, II and III as well as two years' experience in accounting, and two years supervisory experience and/or Job Corps finance managerial training during employment as an Adams Accountant. Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications required. Must successfully pass company accounting accuracy tests.
