Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of curriculum development at the graduate medical education level. Working knowledge of (or proven ability to learn about) the Philadelphia community's history and also the ability to develop an understanding of the assets and challenges currently facing the city. Interdepartmental/interinstitutional collaboration, to facilitate communication and partnership with internal CHOP stakeholders and external community partners, and in particular with the Government Affairs & Office of Community Impact team. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and/or a pediatrics subspecialty.


Teaching responsibilities may include building upon existing longitudinal curricula to promote LEAP resident skill-building in the spheres of health equity and health policy using a variety of didactic sessions and community experiences. Development of individualized learning plans for LEAP residents. Serving as a mentor and advisor to each LEAP resident and serving as a bridge to additional, appropriate mentors (as needed), with the support of the Community Pediatrics and Advocacy Program Director and Manager. Supporting LEAP residents to build new relationships with community organizations and nurture existing partnerships. Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as formal lecture opportunities within the department.


Clinical responsibilities may include at least 20% (0.2FTE) clinical effort, inpatient and/or outpatient, in their clinical specialty.


Development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative educational experiences that promote the LEAP track's core mission of providing the next generation of pediatrician leaders with the foundational skills necessary to ensure that marginalized children, families, and communities can thrive by using their unique platform to advance issues of pediatric equity, advocacy, and policy. Supporting scholarship and innovation in LEAP residents' research initiatives. In addition to being Director of the LEAP track, eligible candidates may have the opportunity for concurrent appointment as an Associate Program Director for the Pediatrics Residency Program.
