The Financial Aid Specialist receives, analyzes and validates student financial information related to verification and awarding of financial aid. As part of Student Financial Aid within the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management this position provides counseling and administrative support on the Operations team within Student Financial Aid for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
By leveraging a wide array of programs and tools, the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management is working to increase effectiveness, remove financial barriers for students, coordinate scholarship strategies with colleges and continue to reduce debt loads for all students.
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable statues, rules and regulations at the federal, state, and institutional levels. The Financial Aid Specialist verifies eligibility of aid and awards, revises financial aid packages, and utilizes professional judgment to approve or deny appeals. Doing so in a timely and accurate manner are key to the success of the fast-paced office that processes high volumes of requests. A collaborative problem-solver who takes initiative will do well partnering with colleagues across the university to accomplish the goals of Student Financial Aid.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
Two years of relevant experience
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in a financial aid office in higher education.
Experience with databases and working with data including reporting and interpreting results.
There are three openings for this position.
The targeted hourly rate for this position is $20.02.
