Job Title: Director - Strategic Business Development, Construction


Location: ADS Headquarters (Virginia Beach, VA)


Our mission at ADS Inc. is to actively seek our customers' equipment and contracting challenges and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions. As we focus on growing our business, our Strategic Business Development team identifies, prioritizes, and executes new strategic business concepts and develops key external relationships. As a Director of Strategic Business Development - Construction, you will lead the development and implementation of strategies and plans to drive growth by satisfying our customers’ most challenging procurement requirements in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) arena. This position will report to the VP of Market Sales and may be filled by a local or remotely located candidate.


Job Functions


While continually learning, collaborating, and partnering with the ADS executive and sales leadership teams, you will spearhead our efforts to generate company growth within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction space. You will employ a range of business development, capture and program management, strategic planning, and change management skills to create and embed lasting value into the company’s culture and practices.


As the Construction and Engineering Business Development Director, you will...



  • Analyze strategic, budget, and customer trends to identify and prioritize new AEC opportunities and business concepts that offer growth potential

  • Conceptualize and develop strategies for ADS to gain access and grow into new areas of opportunity in the AEC space

  • Engage with new and existing ADS customers and industry partners to discover and cultivate AEC opportunities

  • Lead the development, pursuit, and execution of AEC opportunities that enable ADS growth and diversification

  • Create and manage ADS cross-departmental teams, including support and management resources, to develop solutions that best address customer needs, including products, services, and procurement vehicles

  • Develop relationships and agreements with industry partners to gain access to customer requirements and contract scope that enable ADS growth and diversification initiatives

  • Co-develop and deliver training for ADS sales teams to scale the adoption of successful business concepts


Minimum Requirements



  • 10 years of experience with US Government Architecture, Engineering, and Construction contracting and project management; preference for experience at NAVFAC and USACE District

  • Broad, exceptional understanding of DoD facilities, engineering and public works customers, to include their organization, operations, requirements, and key industry relationships

  • Ability to analyze complex procurement problems and present unique contracting solutions

  • Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to easily communicate ideas, issues, and plans to a diverse audience

  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Travel up to 50%


Desired Qualifications



  • Additional industry experience with construction, engineering and/or base operating support firms who work with the U S Government is preferred

  • The right candidate must be team-oriented and able to work effectively across business functions; teamwork is central to our success

  • This individual must be driven and motivated by complex tasks and challenges

  • Versatile and able to adapt quickly and effectively when faced with adversity

  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and organized, able to manage competing priorities with relative comfort

  • Critical thinker under pressure
