PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Gregory Poole is seeking an Indirect Tax Accountant 1 position to play a key role primarily focused on supporting the Company's Federal, state, and local tax indirect tax reporting requirements. The position will also help maximize the Company's overall financial position by reducing overall indirect tax exposure and developing new processes and procedures that result in increased effectiveness and efficiencies.

The position will also help maximize the Company's overall financial position by reducing overall indirect tax exposure and developing new processes and procedures that result in increased effectiveness and efficiencies. \n \nESSENTIAL DUTIES:\nSales and Use Tax\n\nServe as the liaison between Gregory Poole and external managed returns provider.\nCoordinate the upload of manually created sales & use tax transactions into external sales tax calculation platform.\nReconcile and investigate differences between sales tax automation platform and company accounting software.\nReview monthly sales tax filings for accuracy\nPerform monthly sales tax general ledger account reconciliations.\nAssist with ensuring timely accurate reporting and remittance by external managed returns provider.\nAssist with customer exemption certificate maintenance as needed.\n\nProperty Tax\n\nPrepare & timely file property tax returns for each legal entity.\nCoordinate timely payment of annual property tax bills with Accounts Payable department. \nUnderstand Company rental fleet and fixed assets reports and how data should be presented on returns.\nReconcile property tax accrual accounts and allocate related expense over the year.\n\nOther Taxes\n\nPrepare income tax schedules and other workpapers as requested by tax manager.\nPerform reconciliation of income tax accounts as requested by tax manager.\nReconcile payroll tax accounts working with Payroll and HR as needed.\n\nOther Functions\n\nPerform reconciliation of other liability accounts including payroll benefit liabilities, prepaid expenses, and other accounts.\nParticipate in process improvement projects, including developing and improving methods for filing tax returns.\nMaintain dedicated tax calendars with due dates, registration numbers, filing frequencies, etc. to ensure timely return filings.\nAssist with indirect tax notices and audits.\nAssist with indirect tax registrations and business license requirements as required.\nServe as an internal tax resource to Gregory Poole employees and external tax resource to Gregory Poole customers.\nAssist with capital projects approval and maintenance process as needed.\nAssist operational managers in support of their budgeting financial reporting objectives on an ad hoc basis.\nPerform other functions and tasks as assigned by management\n\nMINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:\n \nEducation and Work Experience\n\nBachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, with 2 years of experience; or \nAssociate Degree in Accounting or related field, with a minimum of 4 years of experience.\n\n \nPhysical\n\nAbility to sit for long periods of time\nAbility to see (regularly or corrective) CRT and small print ledger information\n\nOther\nExcellent presentation and communications skills; Detail-oriented and organized; Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines; Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\nTechnology\n\nProficient with Microsoft Office Suite\nAdvanced Excel\nBasic understanding of ERP Systems\nExperience with Microsoft Dynamics AX a plus\nExperience with CCH SureTax a plus\n\n \nThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
