The EH&S Manager is responsible for the maintenance and execution of Environmental, Health and Safety management systems that provide a secure and safe work environment, including maintenance of and compliance with regulatory obligations. The EH&S Manager advises company leadership on actions necessary to proactively support compliance and engages the entire company in achieving goals. The EH&S Manager serves as the Champion for Safety programs in all company environments, manufacturing, office, and field services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead EH&S awareness, training and implementing techniques to assure a safe working environment.
Ensuring all environmental programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively implemented.
Identify applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and lead compliance activities.
Other Responsibilities:
Establishing and monitoring progress toward department goals.
Participation in budget preparation and tracking
Identifying needed support from outside consultants, developing scopes of work, and managing contracts.
Managing environmental processes within US operations to assure proper waste management and minimization practices in accordance with RCRA and TSCA regulatory requirements.
Monitoring environmental, health and safety federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and risk initiatives. Analyze their potential impact on system operations, provide management with information and counsel as appropriate.
Manages regulatory recordkeeping and reporting with agencies including, but not limited to, OSHA, EPA, DOT.
Coordination and engagement of plant personnel and others in the identification, development and implementation of EH&S goals and policies which will positively impact and add value to the organization.
Coordination and engagement of field service personnel and others in the identification, development and implementation of EH&S goals and policies which will positively impact and add value to the organization.
Managing of workers compensation cases.
Maintaining continued presence in workplaces as a coach, observer, trainer and main point of contact for EH&S assistance.
Leads incident investigations and root cause analysis as the EH&S expert on the team.
Develops, reviews and updates EH&S programs and Plans as needed.
Develops and facilitates EH&S training to ensure OSHA and company standards/regulations are integrated effectively.
Develop and initiate programs and processes in partnership with site management to reduce frequency and severity of occupational injuries, illnesses, and property losses
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required (Engineering, Science, Safety or Environmental is highly preferred) or 5+ years of related experience (Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certified preferred).
5+ years of progressive experience leading safety and/or environmental management systems.
OSHA 30 Certification
Previous experience working in a manufacturing and/or field service setting.
Must possess strong people skills and ability to manage others directly and indirectly.
General knowledge of lean fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and the ability to apply such in the manufacturing, field service, and office settings.
Willing to seek assistance from outside resources when necessary.
Strong interaction skills with regulatory inspectors including accompaniment on inspections and follow-up activities as required.
