POSITION SUMMARY
The Intern assists with ensuring proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes assisting with receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Assists with problem resolution which may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level. Provides administrative support to the IT team and assists with special IT projects.
This internship provides an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of various IT functions. Assists with a variety of projects designed to be completed. Gains knowledge of and interact with other business professionals throughout the internship.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists with fielding simple IT issues and requests from end users via telephone, web system or e-mail in a timely and courteous manner.
• Assists with performing hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
• Learns to analyze and perform problem solving and resolution on simple issues.
• Escalates problems to the appropriately experienced technician.
• Assists with performing preventative actions and maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
• Documents all pertinent end user identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue and the resolution.
• Assists with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
• May order computer supplies.
• Provides assistance with special projects as needed.
• Additional duties are assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Solid/Basic degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
• Solid/Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
• Solid/Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
• Solid/Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with peers and management.
• Self-motivated with solid attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
• Possess a mechanical aptitude.
• Valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
• Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• The noise level in the work environment may be high.
