The Allergy Mixer follows clinic protocols and develops immunotherapy vials for patients of South Carolina ENT (SCENT) under the direction of physicians, providers, clinical director and other managers. The Allergy Mixer supports the goals and the objectives of SCENT and must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
Requirements
Mixes, dilutes, and prepares serum for patient allergy injectionsCoordinates with clinic personnel regarding the procedures and techniques to be followed in serum mixing and preparation
Tracks inventory and may order supplies and materials needed for allergy vial mixingOther allergy and mixing related duties as assignedCommunicates effectively with other members of the health care team, including accurate documentation in patient medical recordsFollows policies, procedures and protocols and implements appropriately in the mixing areaPrepares and mixes antigen according to formulary
Assists in preparing to ship out antigens to offices
Maintains supplies, equipment and restock at the end of each day
Cleans and sterilizes workstation
Follows HIPAA policies and procedures
Respects and maintains patient confidentiality
Performs specific job duties assigned
Clinical Knowledge: Possesses the appropriate clinical knowledge to provide safe and high-quality care to patients within the applicable scope of practice
This includes accurately recording and communicating patient information to all relevant members of the clinical team
Patient Focus: Making patients and their needs a primary focus of ones actions; developing and sustaining productive patient relationships
Attention to Detail: Accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how small; showing concern for all aspects of the job; accurately checking processes and tasks; being watchful over a period of time
Safety and Confidentiality: Follows OSHA regulations and the safety guidelines of the Practice
Organization: Uses time efficiently by prioritizing and planning work activities; is methodical and efficient in structuring tasks to be accomplished
Administering injections
This position routinely uses standard medical office equipment as well as standard medical diagnostic and treatment equipment
Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, normal SCENT business hours
Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner
Travel to applicable SCENT clinic locations as required
They mix and prepare does of allergenic extract for subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy treatments
They also perform an array of administrative duties, which include ordering supplies, stocking rooms, scheduling appointments, responding to patient questions and requests, indexing faxes and other documents, and monitoring work queues in the EHR system
Coordinates with clinic personnel regarding the procedures and techniques to be followed in serum mixing and preparation according to USP 797 guidelines
Requirements:
Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAM) OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or equivalent certification/licensure requiredOne year of medical office, lab and mixing experience preferred
