Basic Functions

This role will work directly with Critical Home Repair applicants and approved CHR Partner Families from the time of inquiry through the completion of Critical Home Repair program. Primary responsibilities will be to inform, process, qualify, manage and support Critical Home Repair families. This role will oversee and manage the CHR applicant and Partner Family experience in an effort to fulfill Habitat Charlotte Region’s mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. 

Essential Functions


  • Evaluate, process and determine program eligibility for Critical Home Repair applications throughout Habitat Charlotte Region’s service area. This entails requesting and reviewing supporting documents, informing applicants of program policies/standards and effectively communicating with the applicants where appropriate.

  • Provide quality case management to a high volume of approved CHR Partner Families throughout the service area by meeting with Partner Families, educating and managing Partner Family’s program requirements, setting expectations, answering questions, and advocating for the interests of Partner Families as necessary.

  • Assist with general CHR inquiries and application intake by coordinating and conducting in-person and phone applications where necessary.

  • Collaborate closely with the Critical Home Repair Family Support team to ensure smooth workflow, identify areas to promote positive and quality Partner Family experiences, contribute in team meetings to problem solve, and create efficiencies were possible.

  • Assist in facilitating and organizing Engagement opportunities for approved CHR Partner Families.

  • Maintain organized and up to date records of all applications and CHR Partner Family data in Homekeeper/Salesforce & Microsoft platforms.

  • Ensure grant compliance by collecting required documentation and forms, communicating with other involved parties, and completing necessary reports.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with CHR Construction and CHR Grant staff.

  • Prepare and execute required program documents in a timely fashion.

  • Assist with coordination and facilitation of trainings, information sessions, meetings, and other public speaking engagements as needed.

  • Assist the HCHR Support Supervisor on special events and opportunities for recognition of Partner Families/volunteers/staff involved in projects and celebration of partnerships with Habitat Charlotte Region.

  • Assist Family Services department in organizing and participating in Family Services events where necessary.

  • Assist in special projects and other Habitat Charlotte Region-related tasks as requested by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Experience working with a diverse population such as persons of low income, aging adults, people with disabilities  

  • Social Services or Housing-related experience 

  • Strong empathy and active listening skills

  • Notary License (preferred or eligible) 

  • Bi-lingual abilities are a plus

  • Valid Driver’s License with personal vehicle that will be used for business purposes and the ability to meet Habitat Charlotte Region’s insurance requirements

  • Proficient Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Data Entry, and Data Analysis 

  • Ability to build rapport with diverse groups, Partner Families, Staff, Volunteers

  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication skills 

  • Ability to adapt and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment

  • Possess a high level of self-motivation and critical thinking ability

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment 

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a timely manner

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment 

  • College degree in related field preferred 

  • Willingly adhere to Habitats Code of Conduct Policy and any other policies set forth by the organization

  • Represent Habitat in a positive manner to other staff, Homeowners Represent Habitat in a positive manner to other staff, Homeowners and HIP, Community Partners, Volunteers, Habitat Partner Families, and others you come in contact with, ensuring teamwork, engagement and motivation of others 

  • Consistent and reliable attendance with ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including Saturdays and some evenings

  • Commitment to Habitat’s programming

Work Environment

This position requires working indoors in an office setting, driving between locations within the service area in all types of weather, and visiting Partner Family’s Homes sites in all types of weather.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods of time

Ability to lift/pull up to 20lbs unassisted occasionally

Ability to work in an office environment where there is moderate to high noise level

Ability to visit Partner Family’s Homes, including homes that may have stairs

Ability to drive a motor vehicle

Ability to communicate in person, over phone and/or computer
