Crisis Co Responder Field Clinician I (247)

Rural CIT Field Clinicians will be co-locating and co-responding with law enforcement to provide more expedient crisis response to the Fresno Rural area. The team will attempt to divert individuals in crisis away from the criminal justice system and emergency rooms by adequately providing assessment, intervention, and linkage to appropriate mental health and co-occurring disorder treatment options with 90-day brief intervention case management follow-up.
How will I contribute
Ability to establish trusting partnerships with law enforcement, behavioral health professionals, as well as with consumers and their family members. Competency in identifying and quickly connecting with consumers who are experiencing behavioral crises due to mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Follow up case management including mentoring consumers in managing their co-occurring disorders, to keep their treatment appointments and utilizing the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) model. Ability to partner with community based partners geared towards safer interventions for officers and community members while showing care and concern for the ill consumer. Researches assigned community to develop and enhance resources available for stabilization and follow up care to diminish over utilization of calling 911 as the only response option. Ability to be trained in a treatment model that encompasses crisis intervention, assessment of co-occurring issues, strength based solution focused interventions such as WRAP, case management, veterans issues, reduction of stigma related to mental health disorders, trigger management, trauma informed and gender specific concerns as well as the cultural and linguistic differences in the rural regions. Seeks supervision as needed. Confers and consults with lead clinician, Program Manager and/or Regional Behavioral Health Director regarding pending 5150 commitments or placement of consumers in stabilization units. Demonstrates an openness to use creative and innovative approaches to providing service. Interpersonal and oral communication skills i.e., maintains confidentiality; treats community partners with respect. Be willing to accept after hour calls from team members needing consultation
What I bring
Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling, Psychology Current BBS license in good standing in the State of California. Licensure as LMFT*, LCSW*, LPCC*, AMFT, ASW, APCC Class C Driving License Experience providing crisis services or mental health services for the severely mentally ill or co-occurring consumers. Ability to be credentialed by the Fresno County Managed care Department. Basic Computer Skills, Strong communication skills, Strong listening skills, Ability to take clear concise notes For Crisis Positions - May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff will be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible.
