We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives at the Manufacturing Site here in Altoona, PA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory compliance, environmental management, and product liability issues, with a proven ability to navigate complex regulations and implement effective safety protocols.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal (RCRA, OSHA, CERCLA, SARA, TSCA, DOT, NPDES), state (hazardous, residual and municipal waste, Workers Compensation, Act 165, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Tank Regulations), and local laws (Emergency Planning, Fire Protection) to minimize risks and losses.
ISO Management: Oversee and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS), ensuring adherence to all standards and regulations.
Procedural Development: Develop and maintain written procedures and programs to support compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EMS requirements.
Management Reviews: Conduct Environmental Management Review meetings to assess and ensure ongoing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
Safety and Health Oversight: Manage and oversee all Safety, Health, and Workers Compensation functions to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Permitting and Reporting: Institute and supervise necessary permitting, monitoring, data gathering, and reporting to government agencies to maintain compliance and transparency.
Training and Audits: Perform or arrange for training sessions and inspections/audits related to Environmental, Health and Safety, and Security protocols.
Management Communication: Regularly appraise upper management on significant Environmental, Health, and Safety issues, ensuring they are informed of critical developments.
Facility Security: Oversee the security of the Altoona, PA facility, including supervision of the security team to ensure a safe working environment.
Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in a related field.
Experience: Four to ten years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training: Must have external training in hazardous waste management and DOT regulations, completed annually.
Certifications: While not required, certifications such as Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) or Certified Safety Specialist (CSS) are preferred, as they enhance professional credibility when interacting with customers, regulatory agencies, and the public.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in computer skills, including database management in Access, and advanced use of Excel and Word.
Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 15% of working time domestically as needed.
