The University of Illinois College of Law is seeking two Assistant Directors for its Graduate & International Program. These positions are based in Champaign, IL and require a routine presence in the Law Building.



Job Summary

Provide a broad range of recruiting, advising, and teaching services and programming to graduate and international students and alumni of the University of Illinois College of Law.



Duties & Responsibilities


  • Recruitment, Advising, Mentoring
    -Provide one-on-one academic advising to international law students and alumni to help ensure they make steady academic progress.
    -Assist applicants and students in understanding the structure and requirements of College degree and professional programs.
    -Provide ongoing advising support for students with increased availability at critical and high-volume advising times such as mid-semester deadlines, priority course registration periods, and other designated times throughout the academic year.
    -Foster relationships with faculty and other College and University resources.
    -Oversee and facilitate programming sponsored by the Graduate and International Office.
    -Connect current students to alumni mentors appropriate for the student's preferred practice areas/setting/market.
    -Assist in recruiting domestic and international students via 1:1 outreach, by attending recruitment fairs in other countries, and through similar initiatives.
    -Participate in the management of partnership agreements with other institutions.
    -Assist with advertising campaigns and develop marketing tools.
  • Teaching
    -Teach two sections of Law 500 (or the equivalent) per academic year
    -Provide educational programming throughout the year
  • Administrative Responsibilities
    -Support functions of graduate and international office
    -Participate in the Office's strategic planning efforts.
    -Other related duties as assigned


Travel Requirements

5% Occasional for job fairs, employer visits, or professional development seminars



Minimum Qualifications



Juris Doctor from a U.S. law school and maintenance of active bar license. Strong interest in mentoring and counseling of law students. Two years of similar experience in higher education.



Preferred Qualifications



Experience with academic and immigration landscape for international audiences. Some legal practice experience.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required.


Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after December 1, 2024. The salary range for these positions is $60,000 to $70,000. No relocation assistance will be provided.
