Job Description:

This position requires residing in the Missoula, MT or Vancouver, BC area and is not a remote position. Washington Corporations IT Department is seeking an experienced infrastructure leader responsible for infrastructure operations, modernization, process optimization, and mentoring technology professionals in support of our private data centers and public cloud infrastructures.Complexity and Confidentiality:


  • Requires diverse technical knowledge to manage data centers and execute infrastructure projects.
  • Initiative and creativity are essential for resolving technical, production, and personnel issues.
  • Significant errors or misjudgments may result in data loss, system outages, and project delays or budget overruns.
  • Access to confidential and sensitive company information requires a high level of confidentiality and ethics.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, support, and management.
  • Client-focused with strong communication and attention to detail.
  • Firm grasp of IT infrastructure and operations best practices.
  • Ability to lead a group of system, desktop, and network administrators.
  • Excellent knowledge of vendor management for IT shared services (systems administration, network services, data storage systems, M365, desktop, etc.).
  • Experience leading and managing IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, with flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the IT Infrastructure Team, including systems, desktop, and network teams.
  • Plan, resource, and execute infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee internal and external relationships to ensure smooth, on-time, and on-budget IT infrastructure operations.
  • Communicate tasks, projects, goals, and issues clearly to business customers and IT leadership.
  • Maintain and create supporting documentation as needed.
  • Manage service providers/vendors within IT infrastructure.
  • Ensure service levels are met.
  • Research chronic technical issues and develop plans for continued support.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on IT Infrastructure Services and Technology for various projects, issues, and strategies.
  • Provide hands-on support leadership for day-to-day needs.
  • Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software, maintaining compliance where appropriate.

Functional Reporting Relationship:

  • Reports to the CIO and manages the infrastructure team.
  • Directly oversees infrastructure managers.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of data centers, systems, backup and replication strategies, networks, and desktop environments.
  • Provides remote-hands assistance for the implementation, management, or support of corporately owned assets.
  • Oversees procedures related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of requests and incidents, including monitoring, tracking, and coordination of systems, network, and desktop functions.
  • Manages technology infrastructure projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.
